Information pertaining to the 2012 edition of the AOSD conference can be on the MODULARITY: aosd•2012 web site.
The International Conference on Aspect-Oriented Software Development (AOSD) is the premier conference on software modularity that goes beyond traditional abstraction boundaries. The past conferences have been mainly investigating "the aspects" for 10 years and explored their clear benefits. Furthermore, they have revealed that advanced modularity is the core notion for building modern software systems and hence other new modularization paradigms and techniques are also getting spotlighted today.
AOSD.11 seeks to foster advanced modularization paradigms and techniques, which are not limited to aspects thus re-emphasizing the original intention to establish AOSD as a conference on advanced separation of concerns and software modularity for extensibility, flexibility, and adaptability.
Highlights
of AOSD.11
- Broad
view on aspects as any mechanism for advanced modularity.
- A novelty of AOSD.11 is that papers
submitted to the Research Track undergo a submission process
comprising two rounds. Authors
can submit their papers at either 1st or 2nd round.
The final program will be announced in January 2011.
- Special track on Modularity Visions. This track expects high-quality papers
proposing new visions of modularity for rapidly changing software
and software development landscapes, addressing current and future
challenges.
- ACM
Student Research Competition. For the first time, AOSD
hosts an
ACM
SIGPLAN Student Research Competition.
The
competition, sponsored by Microsoft Research,
is an internationally-recognized venue that enables undergraduate
and graduate students to experience the research world, share their
research results with other students and AOSD attendees, and compete
for prizes.
- Tutorials
are back. AOSD.11 will offer a high-quality tutorial program
covering the state of the art in AOSD, with topics of interest for
participants with intermediate to advanced knowledge of the subject.
Furthermore,
continuing the tradition of its successful predecessors, the program
of AOSD.11 will include:
- An
Industry Track where architects and developers with experience in
aspects gather to learn and teach.
- Workshops
for in-depth discussion of advanced topics in industry and research.
- Demonstrations
of leading-edge technologies. Attendees learn about emerging
technologies and have opportunities to interact with their
developers. Presenters gain excellent opportunities to increase the
visibility and impact of their work.
- Students
Events at AOSD.11 serve to attract and support students who are
doing research in AOSD. The Student Forum takes place on the Sunday
preceding the conference to allow students to meet other students
before the main conference begins. The Poster Event is held in
conjunction with the Welcome Reception.
- The
Student Volunteers program provides an opportunity for students to
associate with the top researchers in AOSD and to make new friends
among potential future colleagues.

The Best Paper Award at AOSD.09 goes to Mehmet Aksit, Arend Rensink, and Tom Staijen from the University of Twente in The Netherlands for their paper entitled "A Graph-Transformation-Based Simulation Approach for Analysing Aspect Interference on Shared Join Points."
Information about the availability of airport shuttles from select hotels is available at the Accommodations page. Please note that not all hotels offer airport shuttles.
A Poster Event featuring 13 posters representing work by students will be held in conjunction with the conference welcome reception on Wednesday night. For a list of the posters, please visit the Student Events Program page.
The Birds of a Feather (BoF) schedule is now avaiable at the BoF page. A BoF session provides an informal forum for discussions related to the AOSD community and its topics.
The online (advanced) registration period and fee structure has been extended until 2/22, after which on-site fees will be charged, whether online or physically on site.
A new rule was instituted in January 2009 that requires those traveling to the US as a citizen or eligible national of a Visa Waiver Program country to register online before beginning their travel. This is in place of the paper forms that are traditionally filled out in flight. If you are flying into the US to attend AOSD, please take a moment to check if the new rule applies to you.
The registration website can be found at https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov
The Demonstrations Program features ten demonstrations (eight forum demos and two tabletop demos). Visit the Demonstrations page for more details.
The registration for AOSD.09 is now open. Visit the Registration page for more information.
Please also consider reserving your hotel soon, as the deadline to get the conference rate in some hotels will pass this month (January). For more information about hotel accommodations and conference rate deadlines, visit the Accommodations page.
AOSD is proud to announce this year's keynote speakers: Paul Daugherty, John A. Stankovic, and Gail Murphy. Take a look at the Keynotes page for more information.
Authors of accepted research and industry papers should keep in mind the hard deadline for submission of their camera-ready paper (January 8th). Specific details about preparing the final camera-ready version are available at http://www.sheridanprinting.com/typedept/aosd.htm.
